DESCRIPTION:Linguistic Justice – Community & Writing Workshop\nPresented by Wayne State University and The Hannan Center \nFebruary 15-April 11\, 2024 | Thursdays 1:00-2:15 PM \nDiscover the power of words and the pursuit of linguistic justice in this Winter 2024 Workshop: Linguistic Justice-Community and Writing\, presented by Wayne State University Community and Writing Program in partnership with The Hannan Center’s Beyond You initiative. This eight-week co-educational workshop\, led by facilitators Ms. Jessica Ridgeway and Pat Baldwin\, aims to address critical issues of linguistic racism\, cultural diversity\, and community engagement. Through readings\, discussions\, and hands-on projects\, participants will delve into the rich tapestry of language\, exploring the historical\, cultural\, political\, and racial dimensions of Black Language and its impact on marginalized communities. This course empowers students to become active citizens within their communities\, working to dismantle anti-Black linguistic racism and racial hierarchies.
